Subbacultcha’s Women’s Day Playlist

International Women’s Day is almost here! At Subbacultcha, we are dedicated to showcasing music from an inclusive cohort of artists we love. So we’ve created a playlist of previous performances and upcoming shows which will empower and soar. With a plethora of Subba featured women and gender queer folk to choose from, this list captures only a smidgen of talent we’ve had the privilege to work with.

There’s Princess Nokia bringing her critically acclaimed feminist hip-hop; dystopian-dreamer-in-pink Eartheater and reggaeton superstar Ms Nina. Drag Queen/King and rap sensation Mykki Blanco, as well as Russian electro goddess Kedr Livanskiy. Poet and Afrofuturist Moor Mother provides intense, retrospective lyricisms whilst rap duo Smerz slow the tempo with remembrances of heartbreak. Trio Sassy 009 offer flute imbued dreaminess and self-proclaimed Queer Diva MHYSA sparks questions about womanhood and beauty. C’est la kaleidoscope.

So crank up the volume and let these femmes sweep you off your feet – you can also listen on the move by streaming via Spotify!

Also, don’t forget to attend our team up with Pisswife + Melkweg on 8 March: UIT JE DE CLIT is free to members promises to diversify the dancefloor and transcend sexism. <3
