20:00 - €16 / €19

On May 1st, BIMHUIS hosts the avant-garde tenor saxophonist Zoh Amba, together with bassist Farida Amadou & drummer Chris Corsano.

Amba has developed her artistry by practicing in open air, in the forest near Kingsport, Tennessee, where she grew up. Melodies from folk and gospel resonate in her intense improvisations on tenor sax and flute. Her debut album O, Sun was released on John Zorn’s label Tzadik. Under the group name Bhakti, Zoh Amba performs in various line-ups. This concert with experimental bassist Farida Amadou, who has worked with Thurston Moore and Moor Mother & drummer Chris Corsano, who The Wire called “…arguably the most riotously energetic and creative drummer in contemporary free jazz”.
