Come Subba With Us, Mavi Veloso & Satin de Compostela

In the summer of 2021, we will open up s105’s big wooden doors every other Wednesday to host a small dinner, live music and DJ performances. For our fourth gathering we will invite you, Mavi Veloso & Satin de Compostela.

We will serve you a soup, made with help of Theo, of Theo’s Tuin – a small-scale garden that cultivates with respect to people and environment. We will cook you a soup with greens and vegetables that Theo didn’t sell at the market that week – fighting against waste. The soup is on us and Theo. The soup will be served with sourdough baguette from the RISE Bakery – a bakery and coffee shop located at the Albert Cuypstraat 208.

Thirsty? You can get a cocktail that’ll fit right in with the soup of that week, made with syrup of Roze Bunker – a team of ‘fruit butchers’ who create different soda’s in syrup form on their mission to fight waste and an unsustainable / inefficient distribution system of water in the soft-drink industry.

Mavi Veloso

Mavi Veloso is a performer, a singer, an actress, a dancer and a visual artist, commenting, celebrating and questioning gender technologies, notions of identity, sexuality, placement and displacement. We’re very excited to have Mavi over for a show again.

“I like to believe in art practices, the different media, as possibilities of transgression, transcreation and transposition of experiences. It goes through autobiographical instance, it is subjective and for that reason can affect the other in who I am contained in, the other who’s contained in me. The art doing exactly like this, partnershipping and intercrossing. Dance, performance, visual arts, poetry, music, text as well as fashion, design etc… as a means for creating ambiences that swallow us, overwhelming, bewildering, transporting us through and beyond our perception. For the other and I can discuss some ethical, political, social, psychological, sensitive, collective and personal aspects of our existence.”

Satin de Compostela

Satin de Compostela is a musician and DJ who selects sounds “that feel like the touch of satin, enhanced by the cavernous depths of cathedral bells striking noon on a sultry summer day in Santiago de Compostela.”
