Kero Kero Bonito – Bonito Generation

‘Bilingual schoolyard dancehall’ – that’s how London band KKB call themselves. And it’s exactly what they are. Using influences of J-pop, dancehall and video games, this band is a crazy kitsch – but not less qualitative – mix of half British half Japanese high school colorfulness. It was in the spring that Kero Kero Bonito pulled us into their carefree world of glitter, stuffed animal and offbeat pop music at De Nieuwe Anita, and now their first album, Bonito Generation, is out on Double Denim. Also, don’t forget to check them out in our Fall Issue, wherein they talk Pokémon, classic Nintendo, and how to market punk.
