Introducing Jenny Hval
Music // InterviewWith just two days until her Sacred Bones debut and a little more than a week before her The Rest
A year ago in June, Jenny Hval blew us away with her incredible avant-garde performance at Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ, leaving us in a state of pure daze. The career of the Norwegian singer/composer spans from catering delicate vocals in the goth metal band Shellyz Raven to the unexampled solo artistry we’ve experienced, most recently, through Sacred Bones’ release Apocalypse Girl. We’ve just been informed of a new release on the Brooklyn based label this upcoming September, from which ‘Female Vampire’ has been shared. Appearance-wise, blonde’s been replaced with black, while high caliber compositions & lyricism remain standing. After being born in Moscow and raised in Alaska, the clasically-trained pianist found her calling in electronic music, packed up and went to New York. Her third album, TEMPO, came out earlier this year (One Little Indian).
