Subbacultcha magazine — Issue 05
Magazine // NewsThe Fall Issue of the Subbacultcha quarterly magazine is out now
It was 2014 when Friday Wilkinson came into being at the hand of visual artist and musician Hidde van Schie. He then took on an assemblage of musicians, aware of their improvisational know-how; with Jorn Ten Hoopen, Bas Kloosterman, Friso van Wijck and Aafke Kloppenburg on board, the proficient group recorded a fresh batch of songs in Eindhoven’s The Void studio in early 2015. Their expertise and pop-structured songs led to a spur-of-the-moment journey that lasted four days of recording in the studio – the result is Offshore, out now on We Are Elevate. Although socio-economic themes run throughout the record, they’re slightly obscured in ‘All Things Collide’. Only slightly, we promise you’ll feel the sense of despair, hovering throughout the somber piece. See for yourself and listen below.
Friday Wilkinson present Offshore at V11 on Thursday, 15 September. All Subbacultcha members attending the show will receive a free copy of the brand-new record.
