WORLD BRAIN

4 February - Cinetol, Amsterdam
€15,75

WORLD BRAIN is the solo project of Lucas Ufo, also known as one of the band members of Fenster.

Last November he released his new album ‘Open Source’. The record deepens this internal and external journey. It breaks beyond the four walls of ‘bedroom pop’ and has a jazzy, cinematic scope, enveloping the listener in a cosmic-pastoral audio atmosphere.

There are many tones that are reminiscent of the software sounds of decades ago, but the palette has become richer and more organic, led by the woodwinds that play a major role throughout. Perhaps the most striking new element is the use of WORLD BRAIN’s native French, sung by his sister Noémie in “Ville fleurie” and “Minute papillion”. WORLD BRAIN initially wrote these lyrics in English, but felt that something was not quite right and only realised what was wrong when he heard them sung in another language. That spirit of discovery—of finding a new spark upon returning home—infuses Open Source. For fans of John Moods, Petter Person, and Stereolab.

The people at Cinetol have kindly offered a limited amount of free tickets for Subbacultcha members. Please make a reservation by sending an email to mailinglist@subbacultcha.nl with ‘World Brain’ in the subject line + your name in the email.
