Subbacultcha presents: Divide and Dissolve + Js Donny

Unrelenting and dynamic, Divide and Dissolve create overwhelmingly heavy cathartic walls of sound. We are thrilled to present their latest record Insatiable, live at Subbacultcha on 28 March.

With Insatiable, D//D (AUS) founder and guitarist Takiaya Reed implements hypnotic woodwind melodies to enhance the instrumental textures rooted in doom, sludge metal, blasts of noise, and tension-guilding passages of avant-classical ambience. Fuelled by sociopolitical ideologies, she confronts white supremacy and oppressive power dynamics through a dissonant pounding of percussion, guitars, piano, synths and saxophone, interwoven with passages of orchestral beauty.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the support act Daisy Ray can not attend her performance, but Js Donny (Donna Candy) will perform instead.

Almost two years after their debut EP with Marseille-based banf Donna Candy, artist and bassists Js Donny returned with their first album. Leaving the delicate fluttering of the butterfly for the infinite swirl of a tornado, a minimalist yet profound album, where everything turns black. The record contains six dark ballads between doom folk, soft metal and alternative rock. Only composed of electroacoustic nylon guitar and muffled bass lines, the songs leave the field clear for Js Donny’s unique voice, skill fully oscillating between soft scream, brooding whispers and liturgical choirs.
