Aural Spaces – Echo(location) Chamber by Evita Manji

At Aural Spaces, Evita Manji presents Echo(location) Chamber, a spatial composition that explores internal landscapes where echoes trace the outlines of space in darkness. And where music communicates what words cannot. Prior to this listening session, there will be an introduction and Q&A with Evita Manji alongside MONOM’s William Russell.

Echo(location) Chamber
This haunting soundtrack meditates on how the resonance of space and the rhythmic pulse of music intertwine, tethering the ephemeral to the profound. In this piece, the echo chamber transforms from a mere loop of repetition into a dynamic environment where soundwaves bounce and return, unveiling the contours of an emotional landscape concealed in the void. Echo(location) Chamber was composed and developed in January 2024, during their two week residency at MONOM.

Evita Manji
With their music and art, Greek producer and artist Evita Manji explores the environments where beauty and pain meet. Manji’s work addresses universal themes such as free will and nature, but always brings feelings of hope and comfort into the equation. Their first album, Spandrel? tells a personal story about the grief they felt after the loss of their partner, the late producer SOPHIE. In addition to their music, Manji is also heavily involved in activism; with their label myxoxym, which raises money for the protection of nature in Greece.

FIBER Festival
FIBER Festival is an Amsterdam-based festival and platform for contemporary digital culture, audiovisual art and progressive music culture. Through the lens of art, FIBER reflects on the ever-changing impact of technology on society and the planet. They explore these topics collectively through lectures, installation art, clubnights and by showing groundbreaking artistic processes to a broad audience.

Aural Spaces
From 12 to 15 December, the music festival with 4DSOUND experience Aural Spaces returns to the Recital Hall of The Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. With more than speakers spread throughout the empty historical concert hall, a unique 4-dimensional sound experience is created, using the space itself as an instrument. Classical acoustic methods are combined with the modern technology of 4DSOUND, further expanding the possibilities of sound experience.

Aural Spaces explores the boundaries between sound and space, blurring them and merging them. The result is a completely immersive listening experience that’s all too rare. Discover and feel how the music moves through space!
