Cloth

Cloth is the project of Scottish twins Rachael and Paul Swinton from Glasgow. Since 2016, the duo has been creating understated, atmospheric music that balances between dream pop, indie, and post-rock. With whisper-soft vocals, minimal guitars, and a strong focus on space and silence, they create songs that slowly sink in and deeply touch the emotions.

Their debut album, Cloth (2019), quickly garnered praise, followed by further recognition with Secret Measure (2023), which was nominated for the Scottish Album of the Year Award. Cloth is known for a subtle yet distinctive sound that gradually deepens without losing its intimacy.

Their new album, Pink Silence, out now on Rock Action, showcases Cloth at their most layered and accessible. Under the guidance of producer Ali Chant, their music has gained a richer palette, with soft synths, strings, and textures that enhance the distinctive guitar lines. Contributions from Adrian Utley, Owen Pallett, and Stuart Braithwaite, among others, add color to songs that slowly unfold and resonate. Pink Silence feels like a natural next step: refined, emotional, and with a gentle pop sensibility that further underscores Cloth’s quiet strength.
