Former Resident is an alternative/indie rock band, born from the ashes of indie pop band New Neighbors. The three of them—Teun Blom, Warner Hoogendijk, and Simon Zwikker—are taking a rawer direction, with heavier guitars, energetic drums, and lingering melodies. Their music navigates the gray area between loneliness and connection, between searching and persevering.
Their debut single “Where Is It Now” immediately demonstrates this new direction: a warm, nostalgic indie-pop track about love, memories, and longing, gradually building from melancholy to a grand, euphoric ending. Former Resident will present their debut EP, Jets, at Cinetol on March 17th.
Support by CAH.
CAH is the solo project of Cas Hieltjes. His dark voice takes center stage, accompanied by sounds that meander between worlds of analog and digital: drum machines, fretless bass, synthesizers, and intriguing near-silences. Introspective, melancholic lyrics float on beautiful, sparse, and infectious melodies.
Hieltjes’ years of experience as a musician in pop and rock bands like Go Back To The Zoo, St. Tropez, and 4B2M form a solid foundation. From this foundation, he lets go of the unwritten rules of music—or bends them to his will when it suits him.
