In April, Rewire opens their festival with a spectacle by an audiovisual supergroup, who will present an hour-long live performance, crossing dance, video, music and spoken word. “Almost all that’s left in the world are lone and surreal monuments, beaming their message into the wilderness. Across 2,000 million years, these last humans make contact with us, the first humans, telling their story and of their abilities, possibilities, and also their difference to us.”
Based on the 1930 novel by Olaf Stapledon, Last and First Men is a film directed by Jóhann Jóhannsson and scored by the director in collaboration with Yair Elazar Glotman. Neon Dance presents a contemporary dance performance set to the backdrop of 16mm black and white film, with narration from Tilda Swinton and a live performance of the original score by Yair Elazar Glotman, Viktor Orri Árnason, Else Torp, and string quartet. Speaking of opening your festival with a bang.
