Notorious not just for its piracy and for being the setting of an 11th century love story, Saint-Malo is also the site for the annual La Route du Rock Festival. The Brittany-based festival, nestled in a picturesque bay along the jagged northwestern French coastline, was founded in 1991 and marks its 25th birthday from 13 to 16 August. The lineup for this momentous occasion includes a few of our childhood heroes – think Björk, Ride and Thurston Moore – as well as recent favourites Savages, Hinds, Viet Cong and The Soft Moon. And with that, we haven’t even mentioned this summer’s Subbacultcha darling Jimmy Whispers.
