Death Grips – No Love Deep Web

Death Grips – NO LOVE DEEP WEB (Epic/Columbia)

This Sacramento trio built up a pretty huge following with their explosive mix of hardcore and avant-hip hop. After curiously signing with mega-label Epic, they’ve repeatedly given the label the finger, leaking The Money Store via YouTube after Epic barred them from releasing it under a Creative Commons license, and recently leaking their second album of 2012, NO LOVE DEEP WEB, under an even more open licence that allows others to make money off it without permission. Underneath all the frothy hype lurks their music, waiting to lunge down your ear canals like some rabid beast blinded by hunger and hatred. Whether it’s all brilliant publicity or financial suicide, their rage at least seems righteous and the execution is excellent.
