Uitkijk Classic: Mary Poppins (1964)

We’ve teamed up with the iconic movie theater of Amsterdam, Filmtheater de Uitkijk. Aside from their assorted agenda, the entirely student-run cinema curates bimonthly ‘specials’; series of movies, linked through a specific theme. And in addition, they screen a classic picture every month! Subbacultcha members can attend selected screenings of the specials and classics for free. This month’s classic: Mary Poppins directed by Robert Stevenson.

In Mary Poppins the titular character appears, as a nanny who can fly with her umbrella, coming to tame unruly children that had driven away many nannies before her. The new nanny is well liked by the kids, but the father doesn’t like her unorthodox methods.
