Liturgy + The Lumes

Litrugy has often been misunderstood and there’s been a lot of emphasis on their unconventional fusion and layering of genres. Stirring conversation with the release of experimental metal album Aesthetica (2011) the Brooklyn four-piece remained unfazed by outside opinions, focusing rather on their visceral output. Needless to say, the release of The Ark Work earlier this year on Thrill Jockey confirmed that Liturgy’s self-styled genre of ‘Transcendental Black Metal’ is not just a catchy name but a realization of what their music is all about. The Lumes support Liturgy with post-punk sentiment from Rotterdam.
