Jake Gyllenhaal plays a bored history professor, whose life is changed when he discovers his B actor doppelganger. Directed by Canadian Denis Villeneuve, this film twists the lookalike trend into a surreal psychological thriller.

Jake Gyllenhaal excels in this doppelganger movie by Canadian director Denis Villeneuve (Incendies, Prisoners). Gyllenhaal plays a teacher who’s bored with his job and girlfriend, until one day he discovers a B actor who looks exactly like him. When these two characters meet, they’re both weirded out and intrigued by their identical appearance – but then things get really strange. Oh, and there’s also some girl-on-spider action going on in a fancy sex club. The futuristic architecture of Toronto, drenched in brown and yellow, plays an important part in this cinematic puzzle that hints to films like Donnie Darko and Eyes Wide Shut.
