Record label aural conduct presents a Thursday eve in Garage Noord, starring Noise Diva, Nour Sokhon & Jad Atoui.
The evening kicks off with Nour Sokhon, a multidisciplinary artist and composer known for her beguiling style and political-sonic practice. This night, she presents “Revisiting: Resisting Turbulence,” an audiovisual performance that delves into the aftermath of the Beirut 2020 port blast, Lebanese uprisings, and economic collapse. Through morphed interviews and imagery collected with Myriam Boulos, Nour channels the ongoing struggle and collective desire for change. Noise Diva will then grace the stage. Renowned for her bass-heavy, percussive sound and commitment to the Arab diaspora, she jolts dancers with tracks like “Shar2i Drill” and “To Be Palestine.” Her live set tonight, also showcased at Rewire, reveals a more stripped, textural side, reminiscent of her early experimental works. Adding to the evening’s relationality, Jad Atoui will also play live. Happy to connect and super curious to hear his fine ear for complex rhythms, worm-like sounds, and highly detailed music. A common friend of the above artists and a stellar musician, Jad has performed alongside luminaries such as Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe and Laurie Anderson, ensuring a night of intricate and immersive soundscapes. Jad will be performing “Purge,” a solo piece that reflects on his recent experimentations with energetic and noise-tinted synthesis.
