Subbacultcha Spring Highlights
ReviewWhilst the heat keeps sustaining and summer is floating by, we look back at breezier days. Last spring welcomed us
Concrete Vehicles (formerly known as Computer) is a band from Vancouver that originally started as a recording project between childhood friends Hudson Schlesny and Ben Lock. As their recordings evolved, the songs became too chaotic and layered to play live with a regular band. This gave them the idea to expand the group into a larger collective of musicians. Two years later, the band has grown into a seven-piece formation working on transforming their songs with a broader instrumentation, including saxophone, synthesizers, and percussion. Since the formation of the seven-piece lineup, the band has played 35 shows, including a tour of Eastern Canada and performances at Sled Island and the Khatsahlano Street Party.
In October 2025, the band released their debut album Station On The Hill via Dine Alone Records and toured the United Kingdom, France, and the Netherlands for a performance at Left of the Dial in Rotterdam.

Prom Vagabonds
Prom Vagabonds (PV) is the love child of noise rock, sequins, and Brazilian TV shows from the 90s. This four-piece group embraces the cathartic and surreal in their performances and has created a musical universe that feels like a glittering gutter. Between contradictions and extremes, music emerges that embraces darkness, dissonance, and intensity, with layers of frantic guitars. The shimmer of glitter lends the performances hypnotic rhythms and nostalgic, personal vocals. After three years of making music together, PV has reached a point where their goal is to express their darkest and most urgent feelings as honestly as possible. Whether it is the soundtrack for a funeral or a wedding, one element always remains the same: intensity.
