Otto Kaan consists of Berend Otto (1985) and Guus Kaandorp (1986), both based in Amsterdam. In the past years they’ve conceived some pretty unusual projects, reaching out to various kinds of materials and genres.
The starting point of their residency at The Art Department was the endearing Fiat Panda and its Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro. To research Giugiaro’s impressively varied oeuvre, they drove to Italy in a Fiat Panda, collected rocks, built cars, made videos, photographed cameras and even tried their hands at painting. What they’re showing in the exhibition is still a bit of a surprise, so come check it out for yourself at the opening on July 24.
