Lower Dens – Sucker’s Shangri La

If Shangri La is the mythical, permanently happy land that stands outside the boundaries of the world we know, then Lower Dens’ ‘Sucker’s Shangri La’ is the more realistic portrayal of simple bliss in a five minute withdrawal from society. Not quite a mise-en-abîme but something similar, a man’s earnest performance in a Chinatown karaoke bar happens before the video projection of synchronously singing Jana Hunter. Following the video for ‘To Die in L.A’, this is the second release off of Escape From Evil, released in March under Domino Recording Company’s Ribbon Music.
