This morning, we transformed the office into a well-oiled postal service company as we were sending out May's fold-out and
Sanctified Serums was the second of event of artist in residence Hannah Polak. A transcending juice experience.
Polak is working in our project space for two months researching different concepts of the self and reinventing what it means to be human being. While working towards a final exhibition she organized different events to open up her research and invite the audience to experience it with her.
Initially she started off in a glittering cloud of pixie dust and uplifting Disney songs at a film screening, but she moved forward into the more real human emotions. Looking for a kind of spiritual salvation, she explored the healing powers of juice.
On 3 May she invited everyone to join her in her work space, where she manufactured various serums for any kind of spiritual salvation one might have been looking for. Such as the Roaring Angel Piss, the unsettling Let’s turn to Whitney ‘cause she’s dead, the Hooker Elixer and of course, the enlightening Open your eyes and see fairies.
The audience was asked to enter the space in silence and choose a serum, after which they descended into the sanctuary. An anonymous figure was present to instill authority and enforce the silence.
Polak will use the experience of this event and continue working on her upcoming exhibition, You then arrive at an oasis of smooth roads and manicured fairways, which opens on 22 May. More information coming soon.
