Residency

#Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

Three weeks ago The Art Department’s residency program was launched within a glittering cloud of pixie dust and cheerful Disney songs. Resident artist Hannah Polak has since started assembling a wide array of materials, appropriating and capturing elements from raw human environments.

The central theme of Polak’s socio-artistic investigation has crystallised into the question of bodily restrictions. She explores the sensory flaws that prevent us from fulfilling some of our ultimate aspirations and the spiritual quest for answers and salvation that flows from it.

With the collected materials, Polak will build a modern holy statue in the shape of a mixed-media installation, consisting mainly of photographic work and video projections. Her work will be presented on the exhibition opening on 22 May.
