Parisian quartet Rendez-Vous have been resurfacing the underground synth-punk sound of the French capital, shakily to the streets. Sparks of Joy Division and The Cure glint through in their latest release Distance out on Avant! Records – which is said to be “more in line with the bands sound” – but they have a timeless virtue shielding them through the 1970’s landscape of reference points. Branded with a murky air of energy, their tracks have that enticing quality of echoing through your head for a couple of days, slowly drawing you back for another listen. Berlin post-punk outfit Girlie will support the night.
