Back in 2009 Purling Hiss started out as Mike Polizze’s solo endeavor, but after five releases, he decided it was time for some company. As a power trio, Polizze, bassist and drummer, went for a more compact sound on their Water on Mars LP, helped by fellow Philly man Adam Granduciel from The War on Drugs. With their latest release Weirdon, this evolution continues, with guitar riffs generating sunny melodies, weirdo pop numbers, rife with ramshackle and catchy, fuzzy psych-punk.
