Originating from Canada’s Calgary, Alberta, the four-headed post-punk group formerly known as Viet Cong recently revealed their intention to change their disputable name.

In the midst of searching for another alias, Chad VanGaalen stepped in and put forth a bunch of potential names, from which Preoccupations was instituted. It’s no surprise that a name referring to the execution of innocent people would be upsetting; on the other hand, a name doesn’t make a man worse, if the man doesn’t make his name worse, right? The band is sorry, the name’s been changed – it’s time to tour. In local news, we’ve invited our favourite Geertruida duo to join in. The strange, far-out obsession Those Foreign Kids have with a certain pair of child actors has become so ingrained in their post-rock/noise-pop existence that we barely even mention it anymore. Except just now.
