Omar Souleyman returns to our stage! The Syrian singer and dabke techno king began his career as a wedding singer, but grew into a global dance phenomenon with his unique and exciting mix of dabke and electronic music. His music is characterized by Middle Eastern melodies, wailing keyboards, electronic beats, and raw, throaty vocals.
Omar Souleyman’s fifth studio album is a tribute to Erbil, the city in Iraq that offered Souleyman solace and embraced him during recent turbulent times. The move to Erbil brought with it a wealth of new experiences and friendships, best celebrated in cheerful songs dedicated to a new chapter in life. On the 8 tracks of Erbil, Souleyman is once again teamed up with his regular keyboardist Hasan Jamo alo for an ambitious and progressive techno-meets-Dabke sound.
