may i weep the wicked worries away? may i wish to whisper what could stay? may i ask what i did wrong and wonder why?
KOU
KOU is the music project of Apolline Schöser and Thomas Coquelet, based in Lille, France. Since 2020, they explore song composition by: turning concrete music into lullabies, playing fluffy guitars with the strings of a rope walker, drowning jazz and non-jazz voices, humming flutes with purring synths, smoking piano strokes, and stealing Giallo’s cries to make them dance in almost groovy rhythms. Their music creates the feeling of a world being reborn.
Rimov
Rimov is eternally looking for newness. Always trying and ultimately always failing, as a result of their true potential as true humans, to find new sounds and combine ’em with new words to make something that is off-everything and yet again resembling of a lot of things that are already out there. It makes for an electronic sound, that’s close to the folk-ness of Piano Magic with text that calls back to Arthur Russell or a kind of poppy rendition of Elliott Smith. Guitar playing that is as sloppy as it is magical at times. “Dida told us it was punk..” They’re not sure themselves but it’s energy as well as softness and truth to find somewhere behind the act.
Knee Deep in Custard
Knee Deep In Custard is a music and visual performance duo blending live vocals, piano, bass, and electronic compositions usually with projected visuals (this is dependent on the space). Their signature approach features projections on a thin screen in front of them, performing behind the screen where they are almost invisible.
They walk around with pebbles in their shoes and grins on their faces. Hmmm… let’s say we sound like the memories of our past, a funny walk or tears falling on the piano.
