Jespfur

6 June - Paradiso, Amsterdam
€17

Composer and multi-instrumentalist Jesper Vervoort is the artist behind the Jespfur moniker. His music unfolds in constant motion, guided by hypnagogic logic. Drawing from golden-era lo-fi and slacker rock, his work drifts between electroacoustic experimentation and songcraft—familiar and strange, intimate yet expansive—feeling less like a genre than an evolving method.

Working through a distinctly DIY approach, Jespfur has quietly built a steadily growing cult audience, drawn to the project’s porous, tactile sound and its refusal to settle into fixed form. Moments of jangle pop and shoegaze brightness dissolve into grunge-leaning distortion, reverberating noise, and unexpected jazz inflections, where lo-fidelity textures carry memory and emotion without obscuring the clarity of the songwriting beneath.

His debut LP, Pedestrians of Bright Silence (2024), released via NYC label 10k, unfolds like a series of shifting rooms—loose, jazz-like atmospheres where production remains open and alive. Each listen reveals subtle movements and quiet turns, inviting active engagement with the material.

While Jespfur marks a distinct outlet, Vervoort’s wider practice extends into collaborative contexts, including performances with MIKE’s “Band Of The Century” (as seen on NPR Tiny Desk) and Oko Ebombo’s “Free Emotion” live band. For this one-off Paradiso show. Jespfur will perform in trio context alongside engineer & producer Jacco Troost & Boudewijn Scholten on 6 bass.
