Following his exit from Mac Demarco’s touring band as the guitarist, Peter Sagar stationed himself in Montreal as Homeshake, reflecting on desolated feelings from the hectic touring through mellow, pensive music. After releasing debut In the Shower in 2014, Sagar spent last winter holed up with Jackson MacIntosh, synthesizers and a drum machine to bring Midnight Snack into being, and released it last fall via Sinderlyn. We’re not trying to be funny or smart here, but truly, an ideal way to enjoy the album is by chilling out, enjoying a warm drink, topped off with a midnight snack. Halifax guitar pop quartet Nap Eyes released their second record, Thought Rock Fish Scale, on Paradise of Bachelors earlier this year. The long-time friends have moved around within the Halifax scene in bands like Monomyth and Each Other; as Nap Eyes, the foursome persuasively deliver self-effacing songs about heartfelt life matters.
