The second addition of Amsterdam’s new event series for raw improvisation nights in Amsterdam’s new space Studio Tumbuh invites Winnie Conradi and Zamity Mitelembe.
Winnie is a solo artist, a member of indierock quintet The Klittens and bandleader of djalan-djalan. Noise guitar, field recordings and an undeniable love for pop music are at the core of Winnie’s practice. A recent theme in her musical development is focussed on taking steps outside her comfort zone of the indie-rock world by embracing the unpredictable: improvised music. Together with a recent deepdive into her Indonesian-Dutch heritage she’s crafting a novel sound that is close to home and heart. Both warm and screeching, sometimes soft and sometimes loud, leaning into beats and exploring texture.
Zamity Mitelembe’s started his solo endeavors under the moniker Salutingrome and grew into a full-fledged band that pushed the boundaries of folk-tinged rock music. His evocative yet theatrical vocals push and pull you through his voluptuous melodrama. After the termination of Salutingrome he combined his forces with Noah Dackus to delve into the experimental electronic project Arc Vale. This drive to traverse has resulted in the ep ‘’World Entertainment’’ which wallows on the verges of the more emotive parts of electronic music, without leaving his lethargic past behind. Zamity has shared the stage with the likes of Ecko Bazz and Liturgy.
