Tonight's the night. Groningen dream pop project Karawane will be unwrapping the night before Ela Stiles' hit the stage. Here
Founded by Greg Saunier and Rob Frisk in 1994 as a drum and bass improvisation duo, the present day Deerhoof is double that and made up of Japanese Satomi Matsuzaki on bass and vocals, Greg Saunier on drums, and John Dieterich and Ed Rodriguez on guitars. Deerhoof’s well seasoned latest album La Isla Bonita came out last fall on Polyvinyl, marking the band’s second decade of activity. Influences include Sonic Youth, The Flaming Lips and Lou Reed, their amped up sound ranging everywhere between pop and noise, that being a very limited description. See for yourself, Deerhoof is touring Europe throughout the summer and the lands of the nether are on that list. Deerhoof will be supported by Karawane, a Dutch formation born last year and made up of Anne Caesar van Wieren, Maaike van der Linde, Rebecca Westerhof, Arjan van Dalen and Adrian Groffen.
