Blondes – Rein

Two years removed from their dizzying RVNG Intl. release Swisher and hypnotic The Rest is Noise set at Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ, things have been a little quiet around Brooklyn-based duo Blondes. So much so, we’ve been indulging in nostalgic late night, Swisher-scored two-wheeled odysseys as of late. That relative silence has just come to a delightful end. RVNG Intl. have just announced the release of a brand new EP on 7 August, and, as a teaser, a single-take audio collage entitled ‘Rein’ that served as inspiration for the forthcoming EP. Compiled during a weekend studio binge, the fifty minutes and five seconds of ‘Rein’ deal in the characteristic hypnotic transcendence of previous Blondes releases, gradually building textured layers of delicate percussion and blissfuly eclectic melody as they dance around the peripheries of all manner of electronic genre.
