Tingyi Jiang – Make It Fit – A Life Script

13 December - Tempel, Amsterdam
€12 - €16

Make It Fit – A Life Script is a performance by artist and performer Tingyi Jiang. It constructs an ordinary yet contrived situation. Blending forms, like: reality show, memory reenactment, speech, collective reading and artist talk, to embrace the ambiguity of fitting—and failing to fit in. The enacted script becomes a live negotiation between language, performance and power.

This parody of authoritarian speech is repeated over and over until a personal vulnerability seeps through the mask of satire: How to fit in a way that escapes fitting in? How to carve space for the security and comfort that fitting in brings?

“Make It Fit is the key to living. Make It Fit is the essence of progress. Fix it, to make it fit!

Tingyi Jiang is an artist and performer based in The Hague. She uses performance as a tool to engage with the world through her practice, which she calls situation-specific performance. By claiming the ‘situation’ as a stage, appropriating ‘rules’ as scores, and using ‘action’ as material, she transforms implicit social norms into performative acts—blending reality and fiction to explore themes of identity, memory, language, and authority.
