Purity Ring:
This Canadian electro-pop duo of the same name make the kind of dreamy, seductive R&B-inflected dance tracks that lonely music nerds would like to but probably only imagine having sex to. Their long-awaited debut, Shrines, didn’t disappoint when it dropped this past July, but it probably did conjure up plenty of unholy feelings.

Doldrums:
Doldrums’ Airick Woodhead’s panicky, androgynous vocals and chopped-up samples teeter on the edge of electro-hallucinogenic freak-outs before accessible pop melodies pull them safely back to the real world. His debut full length drops in early 2013 on Arbutus (also home to friend and collaborator Grimes).
