Matana Roberts

Neutral Milk Hotel’s Jeff Mangum invited Matana Roberts to play All Tomorrow’s Parties this year. Lucky for us, she’ll also pay a visit to Amsterdam’s acclaimed Bimhuis. Matana has played with bands like TV on the Radio and Godspeed You Black Emperor! but she also has an impressive discography of her own. As one of the leading ladies in African-American experimental music, she’s redefining the jazz traditions with her ‘COIN COIN’ project. Combining narrative, theater and music, this mesmerizing performance is her personal exploration of African-American history.
