Matthew Dear

Matthew Dear is a man of many facets: founder of Ghostly International, DJ and producer/performer under no less than four distinct aliases. His fourth full-length, Beams, ranges from funk to driving dance punk to thoughtful meditations, and could easily be the work of four to five different people. But rather than coming off as schizophrenic,Beams acts as a sort of prism through which one person’s myriad self is refracted into a varied and delightful rainbow of ideas, moods and desires. Also on the bill are gloomy post-punkers Led Er Est and Mushy.
