Friday November 7th, Garage Noord welcomes three distinctively groudbreaking acts.
Between his duties as founder of the groundbreaking Hyperdub label, his always forward-thinking DJ sets, and his original productions and remixes, Kode9 remains at the forefront of underground dance music. One of the originators of the U.K. dubstep scene, he founded Hyperdub in 2004 and released numerous singles with ragga vocalist Spaceape, as well as full-lengths Memories of the Future (2006) and Black Sun (2011) and mix CD Dubstep Allstars, Vol. 3 (2006). Constantly expanding his horizons, he became an early champion of the juke/footwork scene in addition to exploring styles such as broken beat, garage, and grime.
Guy Brewer comes out with his first album as Carrier. Rhythm Immortal seeks to challenge electronic music’s status quo, eschewing notions of futurism and exploring new ideas around what “forward-thinking” can represent. It features Voice Actor and Memotone. Rhythm Immortal follows releases on FELT, The Trilogy Tapes and Carrier’s own self-titled label. The Antwerp-based artist previously put out music as Shifted and Commix.
Zohar
Zohar has a razor-sharp and highly dynamic club-signature. With years of formative experience controlling dancefloors, the artist has been treading a diverse and eclectic musical path. Zohar’s productions have appeared on the illustrious ZHR label, distributed in collaboration with Clone, and on compilations such as DKMNTL X PATTA and Traumgarten. Zohar has performed at renowned festivals such as Dekmantel and FIBER, and has recently collaborated with dance performer Hannah Grennel, formerly of The Royal Ballet.
