Jazz-trained pianist and vocalist, Jessy Lanza has been making waves since Junior Boys’ Jeremy Greenspan enlisted her for It’s All True. Now at it alone, hyperdub’s Canadian electro-R&B provocateur makes her Dutch debut with support from fellow Canadians, sibling trio Doom Squad.

Montreal and Toronto may hog much of the Canadian hype, but Hamilton, Ontario has got its own thing going on. While its nickname of ‘Hammer Town’ conjures up certain unsavory musical memories, natives like Junior Boys’ Jeremy Greenspan, and now Jessy Lanza, are hitting the nail on the head with their chilly, R&B-inflected electro-pop. After knowing Lanza for years, Greenspan enlisted the jazz-trained pianist to contribute backing vocals to 2011’s wonderful It’s All True. Wowed by her knack for melody, he offered to produce what would become her new album, Pull My Hair Back, tipped as one of 2013’s finest debuts.
