HAUNTOLOGY & Tos Nieuwenhuizen

19 January - Frascati, Amsterdam
20:00 - €15

LENZ and Frascati Producties present HAUNTOLOGY: “an audiovisual ghost story about a generation growing up in a world that is being destroyed”.  You can catch the theatre and musical performances throughout January however, for the show on the 19th our friends at Frascati have been kind enough to offer Subbacultcha a limited number of free spots!

A teen sits alone in their bedroom. Their only connection to the outside world is the bottomless vortex of the internet, which drags the child back and forth between cat videos and catastrophic violence. At night, in the flickering light from a laptop screen, something in the bedroom seems to move: a shadow in the doorway, a laugh in the dark, a breath under the bed… until the torments gradually grow completely out of control, and the teen realises it’s time to answer a question that’s been suppressed for too long.

HAUNTOLOGY is a contemporary ghost story about the existential struggles of a generation growing up in a world that is being destroyed. How can you start out on your own life’s journey when humankind is on the brink of extinction? Named after – and inspired by – the final book by cult legend Mark Fisher, LENZ in cooperation with performer QiQi van Boheemen and drone-synth musician Tos Nieuwenhuizen have created an audiovisual portrait of a young individual in search of hope and connection in a dying world.

Tickets for the event can be purchased here. The limited free spots for Subbacultcha members have unfortunately all been taken.

Tos Nieuwenhuizen

Tos Nieuwenhuizen — musician, technician, tube-amp-wizard and member of bands such as Sunn O))) and Motorpsycho — gives a drone concert, invited to perform by LENZ in support of their new theatrical creation, HAUNTOLOGY. Utilising amplified guitar and bass synthesisers Tos will create an abstract landscape of layered sound in which high volume, droned notes and low frequencies play the lead roles; an underscore for a human species that is doomed to end imminently. He will be supported by Erasmus Mackenna (light), Theodore Wilkins-Lang (video) and Luc van Weelden (sound technique).

In their work, LENZ give shape to alternative futures through radical empathy.
