Fuzzy Bears is the alter ego of Belgian jazz trio De Beren Gieren, born from an in-depth exploration of modular synths and electronic soundscapes. What began as an experiment with vintage electronics at the Willem II Institute in Den Bosch has now evolved into a bold expansion of the trio’s identity. The trio composed ten tracks that evoke a world between dream and experiment, with influences from Cluster, Mort Garson, Hiroshi Yoshimura and Brian Eno, among others.
On stage, the adventure takes its most daring form: part experimental laboratory, part live concert. Fuzzy Bears offers a listening experience that explores the boundaries of jazz and electronics. Dutch pianist and composer Fulco Ottervanger forms De Beren Gieren together with the Ghent-based rhythm section: Lieven Van Pée on bass and Simon Segers on drums.
“For those unfamiliar with the music of this Ghent, Belgium-based trio, that might seem like a hot mess. Instead, it’s the recipe for unpredictability, excitement, and uncontrollable smiles.” – Bandcamp Daily
