Dark Dark Dark

3 April

Folk music doesn’t inherently equal ambition. The genre is way too humble for that, and typically, anyone attempting otherwise deserves a kicking. Yet there’s something delightfully ambitious about the tunes of this Minneapolis folk band (who are essentially a collaborative ensemble). Sharing the complexity of arrangements of My Brightest Diamond and the raw but powerful simplicity of Mazzy Star, Dark Dark Dark are both enchanting and full of surprises. Their second album Wild Go saw the light of day in North America back in 2010, only making it across to Europe in 2011 thanks to Manchester based label Melodic. Now they’re finally hitting the road here too. Support by Bristol folk all rounder Matt Elliott (The Third Eye Foundation).
