A KB Special: ANTI-DEATH!!

ANTI-DEATH!!! is a tribute to everyone who has passed away or has yet to do so, and a space to celebrate our collective joy of life, despite all forms of oppression.

As part of Gabriel de Oliveira’s residence at VERVERS, this evening, curated together with collective KB_, presents a procession that crosses the Amstel towards Cinetol, followed by a program in which experimental songwriting is interwoven with new Brazilian funk and global ensemble performance. A dialogue of sounds, rhythms, singing, improvisation, tradition, queerity and collective expression that nourishes and transforms the mind.

VERVERS

This program takes place in the context of VERVERS, the Cinetol interdisciplinary residence where five artists work on their music and learn about other art disciplines in order to deepen their act with influences from other art forms. Under the guidance of coaches with a background in both art and music, the residents investigate what approaches and techniques they can use from other art forms to renew and improve their own music and live performances.

Saturno Santos’ Something

SSS is a multiculturally large ensemble led by improviser and songwriter Gabriel de Oliveira, which brings together young voices rooted in contemporary jazz and folk traditions. The collective originated within KB_ as a laboratory for imaginative global pop and alternates from occupation and size, driven by a collective punk mentality.

MIMOSA

MIMOSA is the project of the versatile artist cabezadenego, together with Mbé and Leyblack, both beatmakers and producers. Their work acts as a manifesto about the power of Afro-Brazilian rhythms, from terreiro to samba, and also includes hip hop, drum-‘n-bass and the many forms of Brazilian funk.

Fuensanta

Fuensanta is a singer, double bassist, composer, improviser and multidisciplinary artist, born in the watery forest of Veracruz, Mexico. Her music contains rare and simple poetry that helps to open up a surreal and sincere view of things in the world.
