Now that Vivian Girls have called it a day, bassist Katy Goodman can fully focus on her own project, La Sera. After two albums filled with bitter-sweet break-up melodies, she’s done with crying. As the title suggests, the new release, Hour of the Dawn, sounds more up-beat, like a new beginning, combining hard rock energy with tuneful harmony. The Spectors bring shoegaze pop that proves Bruges isn’t that medieval at all.
