Subbacultcha co-presents: Ouri

9 December - Cinetol, Amsterdam
20.00 - € 18

Ouri is a producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who effortlessly moves between electronic sounds and raw emotional honesty. Classically trained in cello and harp, but equally at home behind synthesizers and turntables, she creates a sound that feels both intimate and expansive, a fusion of delicate harmonies, deep bass, and ethereal vocals.

Born in France with Afro-Caribbean roots, Ouri moved to Montreal at sixteen to study composition. There, she quickly found her place in the vibrant underground scene. After the release of her groundbreaking EP Superficial and collaborations with the likes of Jacques Greene and Yves Tumour, her reputation grew rapidly, both in Canada and internationally. Her remixes for artists like Tokimonsta and Selah Sue cemented her unique position in the electronic music world, though she began to forge her own path.

Today, Ouri embraces a new chapter as a solo artist, exploring themes of vulnerability, healing, and rebirth. In songs like “Shape of It,” composed solely of harp, cello, and vocals, she bares her soul, uniting strength and fragility in a compelling, hopeful quest for light.
