On June 27th, we will hear the live iteration of Angie Schaeffer’s intricate and textural debut album Distance Grows Short. This emerging gem is not be missed – have a listen for yourself below.

Angie Schaeffer is an enigmatic presence—a muse, a force, a mystical figure whose voice is conveyed through four musicians: Jérémy Michel (modular synthesizer), Ofer Smilansky (synths and effects), Yannick Dupont (drums), and Ruben Orio (percussion and effects). Together, they shape the visions and revelations Angie bestows upon them, translating her burdens and fears into sound.

With their Debut Album Distance Grows Short, released on Brussel-based label Thin Consolation, Angie’s journey unfolds into a musical narrative inspired by a quest for transformation and transcendence that moves through deep, repetitive pulses and evocative spaces. The album layers synths, rhythm, and textures to create an experience that invites listeners into Angie’s fragmented visions.

Here is what one Bandcamp listener had to say about it: “Post-kraut from Brussels, seven short but intense tracks that made me think a.o. of Beak (“Distance”) and Mike Ratledge (“Clouds”), if you’re into references… Anyway, a great EP that feels like a LP, resolutely modern yet psychedelic as can (!) be.”

Délage joins this evening, they have been making beautiful dark dream pop for over 10 years.

Tickets are free for Subbacultcha members and 1o,- for non-members. Please make a reservation by sending an email to mailinglist@subbacultcha.nl with ‘Angie Schaeffer’ in the subject line + your name in the email.
