July marks our return to Roodkapje, Rotterdam for another edition of our Metropolis Festival Pre-Party. Psychedelic ethno-folk clergy Flamingods share their exotic percussion wonders through their jamboree-inspiring sermons. What was once founding member Kamal’s bedroom project has emerged into an intercontinental enterprise; the band didn’t flinch when new VISA laws forced Kamal to leave the UK, creatively merging their latest album together by sending audio files back and forth through the Internet. Hyperborea expresses experiences of identity, belonging and alienation, and extends to daydreams of adventures to mythical lands. Further firing up your festival flame are Aussie quartet Blank Realm. Part of Australia’s burgeoning underground rock scene, Blank Realm have produced a prolific stream of releases since 2007. Having recently released their ninth record Grassed Inn on Bedroom Suck Records, this critically acclaimed Brisbane family (three Spencer siblings and spiritual brother Luke Walsh) boast their most blistering release to date.
