Kayleb Duckett – Swimming

The latest in a seemingly endless slew of antipodean dream pop impresarios, Kayleb Duckett’s recent album (up on Bandcamp) displays a well-defined direction which defies the singer’s 19 years of age. Blue Memory incorporates tight, snappy rhythms with understated guitar playing and hazy processed vocals rising over the top. The Wellington inhabitant still replies to all of his Youtube comments on his endearing video for “Swimming” but it surely won’t be long before this becomes a time consuming undertaking.
