Before launching his solo project, multi-instrumentalist Ahmed Gallab was thriving alongside bands such as Caribou, of Montreal and Yeasayer as a session musician. The Sudanese-American artist has progressively built a resourceful and highly likeable melting pot of genres. Demonstrating a colourful patchwork of inspirations throughout his latest LP, Mean Love, Sinkane swings between upbeat African tempos, melancholic jazzy ballads and dreamy shoegaze. Armed with a voice that caresses the heights and with diabolically hip-moving rhythms, he’s prepared a mesmerising performance for a feverish evening.
