deadHYPE: Unearthing Amsterdam’s Grime
Music // InterviewReflections on grime with deadHYPE duo Christopher McIntosh and Bernard Koomson
Christopher, Bernard and Rasmus of deadHYPE have been sowing the seeds for something big in Amsterdam for quite some time now and the fruits of their labour are sprouting into something exciting. We want to share it with you.
Last time we caught up with deadHYPE, they were joining up with London based Just Jam for what turned out to be one of the liveliest parties of 2015, doing everything to match up to the energy they contain. This time they are bringing over a fresh new crop of UK talent to Amsterdam, Gang Fatale‘s Neana, Bleaker & RaRa Fatale, MixPak’s Famous Eno & Mode FM’s Treble Clef. The deadHYPE guys have kindly curated this playlist of weighty rhythms to give you a taste of what’s in store for this Friday’s party at Paradiso.
Gang Fatale should be recognised for their powerful dance floor centered NTS show and their collaboration with deadHYPE last year. Main name Neana, who also has ties with Night Slugs, has deservedly established a name for himself for his prolific edits and mixes – but keep your ears open for Famous Eno who channels forward thinking dancehall.

The trio, undeniably passionate about their music and events, focus on building up a community around their choice selection of beats and melodies. Working hard as a creative agency they pool their funds and free time into building up an open and inviting community around underground music and urban culture.
On top of generously offering Amsterdam this new series of parties and a doorway to the best new underground bass heavy producers, the deadHYPE crew are receiving international acclaim from some of the biggest names in the industry, grounding the reputation of Amsterdam’s thriving music scene.
deadHYPE present the first Beats, Bass & Grime event at Paradiso this Friday 26th February. More info here.
